SYDNEY - Danny Green (31-3-0), the 38 year old IBO cruiserweight champion who defeated Roy Jones with a stunning first round KO in 2009, has been called out by the latest RJJ conquerer, Denis Lebedev. But Green, currently focused on his next boxing bout against Antonio Tarver in July, responded by showing interest in one of the greats of the ring - one Bernard Hopkins.
"There’s no higher priority than Antonio Tarver - then there’s Bernard Hopkins," Green told AAP on Monday.
"Bernard Hopkins showed that age really is just a number," Green said.
"At 46 he took out a 28-year-old animal in his own backyard in front of 18,000 fans in Montreal. I know how hard that is. I have fought in front of 15,000 screaming fans in Montreal - people were throwing cups of urine at me as I was walking to the ring. So that’s a phenomenal effort by Hopkins - he proved all the imbecile critics wrong."
