South Africa - FightBeat has just learned that former WBO heavyweight champion Corrie Sanders has been shot and killed.
Sanders, best known for defeating Wladimir Klitschko for the WBO strap with a stunning knockout, was reportedly the victim of a bungled armed robbery.
It is believed that Sanders was dining at a restaurant when 3 armed men entered the establishment. Witnesses reported that Sanders took no action, and was believed to be simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.
After being shot in the stomach, he was rushed to hospital but died shortly afterwards.
